Bag Materials & Care Instructions

GENUINE LEATHER

Genuine leather is a natural material made from the skin of animals.

It can be processed in different ways and is referred to as split leather, full grain leather, nappa leather, etc.

The result is an extremely durable and breathable product with a natural beauty that you will enjoy for a long time if handled carefully.

You are wearing a natural product, unique in texture and color, a “one-of-a-kind”.

General care instructions

  • Do not overfill your bag
  • Avoid stains/contamination if possible
  • To avoid discoloration / fading, protect from constant direct sunlight
  • Keep your bag away from sharp or pointed objects and rough surfaces
  • Protect from moisture
  • If leather has become wet due to rain or similar, let it air dry
  • Do not fold
  • Do not bleach
  • No dryer

cleaning

  • Wipe off dust and light dirt with a soft cotton cloth
  • Do not apply water or oil
  • Never dry with a hairdryer or other drying devices
  • No dry cleaning
  • Clean suede, velour leather, rough leather and nubuck leather with a soft brush. If necessary, carefully apply a little neutral or curd soap and wipe/dab with clean water. Warning!! Never use greasy soaps!
  • Check smooth leather to see if it is sealed or open-pored leather. (Water drops are quickly absorbed into open-pored leather). Clean with a soft brush. If necessary, apply a small amount of neutral or hard soap carefully and wipe off with clean water. Sealed leather does not absorb water as much, so a little more water can be used. Warning!! Never use greasy soaps!
  • If possible, use distilled water to avoid limescale after drying

storage

  • Protect from direct sunlight and heat
  • Store in a dry place
  • Keep away from wet or damp areas
  • For longer storage, store in a breathable/well-ventilated cotton bag

ARTIFICIAL LEATHER

The term artificial leather covers all leather substitutes/imitation leather that are made from synthetic materials. For example, PU leather (polyurethane) and PVC leather (vinyl).

The final coating on PU leather is often deceptively similar to real leather, but has different properties than real leather.

It is more resistant to dirt, durable and dimensionally stable. The machine production creates a homogeneous texture and color. Unlike real leather, it cannot absorb moisture and is therefore more resistant to stains and dirt. You can easily clean it with a damp cloth.

In terms of appearance and feel, it is less similar to real leather than PU leather.
